Our Core Values

Hayes Road Baptist Church

Our Core Values

"That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ" (Philippians 1:10)

I)             Authentic Power (Romans 1:16-20)

We believe that the Gospel of Christ is the true power of God revealed in this age.  We believe that it is the power to:

1)      Save People (vs. 16)

2)      Transform Lives (vs. 17)

3)      Convict Sinners (vs. 18)

II)          Authentic Holiness (I Peter 1:13-19)

We believe that God is holy and desires that we be holy.  Biblical holiness is not a work of man but the out-working of the inner-working Holy Spirit.  Since He works in connection with the Word of God, we strive, therefore, to be reading, studying, and memorizing Scripture on a daily basis.  We, also, pray for one another that God will convict us of sin and instruct us in godly living.

III)       Authentic Worship (Psalm 96:1-13)

We believe that true worship consists of rendering unto God the glory that is due His name.In worship, the focus is on God, whereas, in entertainment the focus is on man.  We try to worship God on the Lord's Day.  To that end, we seek to implement seven elements of worship:

1)      A new song (vs. 1) -- Not the music style of our sinful past

2)      Singing to the Lord (vs. 2) -- Not to the audience of men or for their applause

3)      Praise and testimony (vs. 3-7)

4)      Offering (vs. 8) -- First ourselves and then our resources of time, talent, and treasure

5)      Respect for God (vs. 9)

6)      Preaching of His Word (vs. 10)

7)      Joy and rejoicing (vs. 11-13)

IV)       Authentic Service (Psalm 100:1-5)

We believe that our service to the Lord should be with gladness and gratitude.  We, therefore,

remind ourselves frequently that Christ gave His all for us, and that there is joy in serving Him.

We also seek to train, equip, and facilitate members for service opportunities.

V)    Authentic Discipline (Ephesians 6:10-18)

We believe that God has called each believer to be a soldier in His army.  He wants us to engage

in spiritual warfare against invisible beings of immense power. With that in mind, we strive to develop Scriptural discipline in our lives and in the church, so that each of us will be able to fulfill God’s divine calling and expectation.
